    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make storage properties high and high speed eliminating properties and coloring properties good and to improve repeating durability without generation of dent in a recording medium even after repeated use by making a coloring part by heat printing have specified storage/elimination properties and additionally keep specified elimination properties. SOLUTION: This reversible thermal recording medium uses electron-donating coloring and electron accepting compounds on a support and has at least a reversible thermal recording layer containing a reversible heat coloring composition which can form a relatively color-developed/eliminated state by the difference of heating temperatures and/or cooling speeds after heating. The reversible thermal recording medium is made to have storage properties in which a coloring part by heat-printing is of a density holding percentage after 24 hr under drying conditions at 50 deg.C of 60 % or more and an elimination properties in which the residual density is 0.03 or less when the coloring part was heat- eliminated at 110 deg.C for 0.5 sec. Moreover, elimination properties in which the residual density after light-deterioration when heat-eliminated at 110 deg.C for 0.5 sec after being irradiated with the light of a fluorescent lamp of 5,000 lux is 0.04 or less are made to be maintained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance stability of a recorded image by using a carboxylic acid compound represented by a specific formula as a developer. SOLUTION: A carboxylic acid compound represented by the formula is used as a developer (wherein, R1 represents a single bond or a 1-12C divalent hydrocarbon group, R2 represents an aliphatic or an aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, and X represents a divalent group including a hetero atom). In the formula, R1 represents a single bond and a phenylene group or a naphtylene group, which may have an alkylene group or a substituent. R2 represents a 1-18C alkyl group, an aralkyl group, a phenyl group, and a naphthyl group, which may have a substituent. Further, as the developer, various electron-accepting compounds, for example, a phenolic compound, a thiophenolic compound, a thiourea derivative, an organic acid and its metal salt, etc., can also be used together with the carboxylic compound represented by the formula.
