    • A control mechanism for the synchronized operation of the hook, the fabric feeding latch and the needle bar of a sewing machine comprising a main drive shaft driving two juxtaposed eccentrics, one connected through a drive mechanism to the hook for imparting oscillatory movement thereto, the second being drivingly connected through a second mechanism to the fabric feeding latch for imparting oscillatory movement thereto which is synchronized with the oscillatory movement of the hook. The mechanism connecting the second eccentric to the fabric feeding latch includes an adjustable arrangement for adjusting both the stroke of the feeding latch and the direction of its oscillation. The main drive shaft also drives the needle bar through an adjustable mechanism by which the amplitude of zig-zag stitches can be adjusted as well as the centered position of the needle bar. The needle bar is driven in up and down movement from the main shaft through a mechanism with an eccentric which slidably and guidably supports the thread tensioning lever. The needle bar is so constructed that the needle can be inserted in a singular position thereinto, and the needle plate is mounted on the frame of the machine, through the intermediary of studs which cooperate with sloping faces of a slot formed in the frame and resilient tongues which engage beneath the faces of the slot.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a looper drive.SOLUTION: A sewing machine (1) includes: a frame (5a); a needle bar (9) driven so as to vertically move; a sewing needle (10); and a looper (11). The looper is driven by a looper drive (14) so as to swing back and forth around a looper swing axis (12) of a looper swing shaft (13) and forms stitches in cooperation with the sewing needle (10). The looper drive (14) includes a drive unit (15) for causing transmission swing motion around a transmission swing axis (17). In addition, the looper drive (14) includes a traction drive (26) including traction means (25) to convert transmission swing motion (16) around the transmission swing axis (17) into drive swing motion of the looper swing shaft (13). As a result, the looper drive in which a mechanical load on components is reduced is obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubrication structure of a sewing machine, the lubrication structure achieving high lubricating performance without causing defects due to leakage of lubricant outside a housing and performing excellent lubrication of a sliding member which operates at high speed.
      SOLUTION: The lubrication structure lubricates a support part of an upper looper rod 1 which slides in an axial longitudinal direction in accordance with operation of a looper driving shaft 21 and a looper crank 22 inside a sewing machine bed 2, wherein a holding body 3 is made of porous material in which many pores each having a diameter of 10 to 40 μm and continuous with one after another are formed at a porosity of 60 to 90%, and a part of the holding body 3 is approximated the support part of the upper looper rod 1, fixedly provided in the internal surface of the sewing machine bed 2, and the lubricant which is impregnated in and held by the holding body 3 is supplied to the support part of the upper looper rod 1.
