    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, which determines whether abnormality generated on the surface of a casting mold is caused by adhesion of foreign matters or by other events, and repairs the abnormality automatically as much as possible.
      SOLUTION: The repairing device includes: a meter for measuring the intensity of infrared ray emitted from the mold face of a casting mold, which is coated with a high radiation agent so that the radiation rate of the infrared ray is not less than the predetermined reference value of radiation rate; a chemical applicator for applying an alkali agent on the mold face; a high radiation agent applicator for applying a high radiation agent on the mold face; an air injector for injecting air on the mold face; and a moving mechanism. The moving mechanism moves each of the chemical applicator, the high radiation agent applicator, and the air injector. The repairing device applies the alkali agent to the mold face region belonging to a first range lower than the predetermined intensity threshold value of infrared ray, applies the high radiation agent to the mold face region belonging to a second range lower than the first range, and applies air to the mold face region belonging to a third range lower than the second range.

      SOLUTION: The casting mold 1 includes a fixed mold that has a fixing holder 11 and a movable mold that can move forward/backward relative to the fixed mold, wherein the fixing holder 11 has a fixing mold dividing face 10A that comes in contact with the movable mold, with a cavity and a degassing passage 1c defined inside which communicates with the cavity and makes molten metal flow through. In the fixing holder 11, there is installed a sensor unit 40 comprising a sensor 42 that is exposed in the degassing passage 1c to come in contact with molten metal and sense it, and comprising a filling core 41 that holds the sensor 42 as well as constituting a part of the fixing holder dividing face 10A. The casting mold also includes a takeoff fixture 50 that moves the sensor unit 40 from the back side of the filling core 41 to the fixing mold dividing face 10A side relative to the fixing holder 11 with the sensor unit 40 installed. The invention also provides a casting method using the casting mold.
