    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a data transmission speed in a method of making a light emitting body emit light in a change pattern of colors, transmitting data with the pattern, and specifying the position of the light emitting body. SOLUTION: The light is emitted in the color change pattern using three colors R, G and B, and a light-shade waveform representing data by intensity change is superposed on a waveform of R, and transmitted. Color change of a region is detected using a CCD etc., and the light-shade waveform is detected using a photoelectric converting element such as a photodiode. The CCD outputs image data at a frequency of approximate tens of fps, so the data speed thereof is substantially a limit. A light receiving element which receives the light-shade waveform detects a frequency approximately from several MHz to several GHz in general, so higher-speed data communication is carried out.       SOLUTION: The optical space transmission system 1 includes spatial optical communication devices 2 and 3 each having: a laser diode 22 for generating transmitting light A; a photodetector 20 for receiving light B; a polarization beam splitter 17 for reflecting either the transmitting light A at a predetermined polarization angle or the receiving light B at a polarization angle perpendicular to the polarization angle of the transmitting light A; a rotatable mirror 5 configured so as to reflect the transmitting light A to output it and reflect the receiving light B for incident; a photodetector 12 for position detection for detecting the incident position of the receiving light B; and a mirror driving control part 11 for rotatably driving the mirror 5 on the basis of the incident position of the receiving light B. The optical space transmission system 1 performs transmission and reception using the spatial optical communication devices 2 and 3 as a pair, wherein the elevation angle of the mirror 5 of the spatial optical communication device 2 is set opposite to the that of a mirror 7 of the spatial optical communication device 3.
