    • PURPOSE:To obtain a non aqueous electrolyte secondary cell having an excellent cycle characteristic by composing a negative electrode with a lithium alloy and a polyolefin system binding agent. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode is composed of a lithium alloy and a polyolefin system resin binding agent. Polyolefin system resin includes polyethylene. Lithium-aluminum alloy is preferable as the lithium alloy. Since the negative electrode is composed not only of a lithium alloy but also contains a binding agent, the mechanical strength is improved to suppress falling of the negative electrode thus improving the cycle characteristic. Since the binding agent is composed of a polyolefin system resin which will never react with lithium, missing of the binding effect due to reaction of lithium with fluororesin which is conventionally employed as a binding agent will never occur.

    • PURPOSE:To suppress the dendritic growth of lithium and reduce the fall in the voltage of a secondary cell, by providing a lithium alloy or a lithium- alloying metal in the peripheral portion of a negative electrode for which lithium is used as active material. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 7 made of a rechargeable active material such as molybdenum trioxide and vanadium pentoxide is provided in a positive electrode can 1. A separator 9 is interposed between the positive electrode 7 and a negative electrode for which lithium is used as active material. A secondary cell is thus built. The negative electrode is composed of a central portion 4 made of a lithium-metal plate, and a peripheral portion 5 made of a lithium- aluminum alloy or the like. Since dendritic growth is suppressed in the peripheral portion 5 in which the dendritic growth would be likely to take place, an internal short circuit is effectively prevented. Since not all of the negative electrode is made of the lithium alloy, the fall in the voltage of the cell is eliminated to improve the charge/discharge cycle property thereof.
