    • PURPOSE:To prevent an inner seal from being damaged and prevent oil and gas from leaking by installing said inner seal which seals a part between a cylinder and a hollow rod which is inserted in said cylinder, in a position in which said hollow rod does not get out of said cylinder even when it extended at its maximum. CONSTITUTION:The suspension system of a car consists of a main actuator 1 and a sub-actuator 50. In the main actuator 1, a hollow rod 8 in which an oil chamber 9 and a gas chamber 10 are provided, is inserted, extensibly and rotatably, into a cylinder 2 in which an oil chamber 5 is provided. And, an inner seal 44 which seals a part between the cylinder 2 and the hollow rod 8, is provided in the axial middle part of the inner wall of the cylinder 2. In this case, the inner seal 44 is installed in a position in which the sliding area of the outer periphery of the hollow rod 8 which is in contact with the inner seal 44, does not get out of the cylinder 2 even when the hollow rod 8 is extended at its maximum. Thereby, said sliding area can be prevented from being exposed to the air, attaining the desired end.

Since, at this time, the particles having the specific gravity smaller than that of the oil float on the boundary surface of oil and gas, dissolution and mixing of gas and oil are prevented, even if the vertical movement of the oil level position which is accompanied by the extension and contraction of the hollow rod 8 exists. With such constitution, the outside leak of gas from a sealing part 5 is prevented, and reliability can be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To collect the gas leakage from a sealing section and prevent gas from being leaked externally by forming a sub-gas chamber between a gas cham ber outer cylinder provided at the outside of a hollow rod and the hollow rod and connecting the sub-gas chamber to a main gas chamber. CONSTITUTION:A hollow rod 8 is inserted in a cylinder 1 so as to freely slide and a damping force generation mechanism 12 is provided at the lower part of the rod 8 between hydraulic pressure 2 and 9. In addition, a gas chamber outer cylinder 35 is concentrically provided at the outside of the rod 8 and a sub-gas chamber 36 is formed between the gas chamber outer cylinder 35 and the rod 8. This sub-gas chamber 36 is connected to a main gas chamber 10 through a gas path 22 and a switching valve 21. Thus, even if the gas dissolved in oil is escaped from a sealing section 6, this gas is collected in the sub-gas chamber 36 and is not leaked externally. Besides, since the gas pressure of the sub-gas chamber 36 is applied to the sealing section 6 and the differential pressure of the sealing section 6 is small, a suspension unit with low pressure resistance is required.

    • PURPOSE:To improve reliability in a lockup of bump rubber without using any extra parts in addition, by stopping an axial movement of the bump rubber in utilizing burrs produced in time of frictionally pressure-welding an end member to an inner cylinder. CONSTITUTION:An inner cylinder 11 is inserted into an outer cylinder 10 free of motion in its axial direction, while a metallic end member 12 is locked up so as to close an opening part at the upper end side. This end member 12 is designed so as to be attached to an end face of the inner cylinder 11, and after frictional pressure welding is carried out, some burrs 13 are left behind there, and these burrs 13 are continuously projected in the circumferential direction of a pressure- welding part. In addition, bump rubber 14 consisting of an elastic body of rubber or the like is set up in a position situated at an upper end part of the inner cylinder 11 whereby a part 14a of an inner surface of the bump rubber 14 is engaged with these burrs 13. With this constitution, reliability in an axial lockup of the bump rubber is thus improvable.
