    • PURPOSE:To obtain a safety system for combustion apparatus, extremely simple in its circuitry, economical and highly reliable in operation, by a method in which an extremely small thermoelectromotive force of thermocouple is detected by a comparator. CONSTITUTION:Since thermocouple 77 produces an electromotive force if burner is ignited normally, voltage at the minus terminal of comparator 9 becomes lower than the voltage at an intermediate point between resistances 13 and 14. On the other hand, peak value of oscillating voltage impressed to the plus terminal of comparator 9 is at most the voltage at said intermediate portion between resistances 13 and 14 if capacitor 56 is discharged completely. Therefore, output of comparator 9 is oscillated and the oscillating voltage is transmitted to the next stage, so that solenoid valve 89 is kept in its open position and combustion is continued. Here, in case that flame of burner happens to be extinguished by wind or overflow of soup or the like during combustion of the burner, thermoelectromotive force is lowered by the extinguishment of flame, so that the voltage at the minus terminal of comparator 53 becomes higher than the upper limit value of oscillating voltage at the plus terminal and the output terminal is kept always at low level. Therefore, oscillation is not transmitted to the next stage, so that solenoid valve 89 is closed.

    • PURPOSE:To realize the manipulation and safety of an equipment and also to secure a high fail-safe performance against a fault of parts, by detecting combustion flames blazing and going off in a short time by using a thermocouple which detects combustion frames of a pilot burner, etc. CONSTITUTION:Once a pilot burner is ignited, thermoelectromotive force (e) of thermocouple 9 is generated and a signal amplified by an amplifying circuit is converted by a proportional differentiating circuit into an output of the gradient of the rise of thermoelectromotive force (e). Fluctuations of this output voltage Vs are detected by comparator 31, and consequently transistor 35 is turned ON to turn relay 36 ON. Through another contact of relay 36 not shown in the figure, a solenoid valve, etc., holds gas to the burner to continue the combustion by the burner and also to stop power feed to an igniter. Once the pilot burner goes off, thermoelectromotive force (e) of thermocouple 9 decreases and the signal from the amplifying circuit is converted by the proportional differentiating circuit into the output of the gradient of the fall of thermoelectromotive force (e) and variations of the output voltage Vs are detected comparator 31 to turn transistor 35 OFF, thereby closing a gas circuit.

    • PURPOSE:To exercise temperature control over an air conditioner, etc., by making into a semiconductor integrated circuit a part including a comparator, load output circuit and cooling-heating switching inverter, by providing a terminal for the selection of either cooling or heating operation, and then by controlling OR-ELSE to give effect to both the cooling and heating. CONSTITUTION:On detecting the temperature of a controlled system such as an air conditioner controlled by a heat source by a thermistor, etc., bridge 33 puts comparator 34 into operation. Load output circuit 39, on the other hand, drives the heat source and between comparator 34 and circuit 39, cooling-heating switching inverter 61 consisting of OR-ELSE is interposed. Then, a part including at least comparator 34, circuit 39 and inverter 61 is made into a semiconductor integrated circuit and as one of input-output terminals of the circuit, terminal 29 is provided which provides the selection of either of cooling or heating operation to control OR- ELSE, thereby giving effect both the cooling and heating. Consequently, this system can be used for both cooling and heating, so that the temperature control over the air conditioner, etc., can be exercised.

At the beginning of flowing current to the coil 14 of this solenoid 11, the output voltage of a comparator 34 becomes high level, a transistor 28 becomes on, a one-shot trigger circuit 35 becomes high level for a specified time, a transistor 29 becomes on and a too high current flows through the solenoid 11 when the output voltage of a differential amplifier 32 is lower than the output voltage of an oscillator circuit 33, and after the elapse of specified time, the transistor 28 alone becomes on.

The voltages are compared by 9, and H or L output eO is generated dependently upon the comparison state, and Tr14 is turned on or off by output eO to drive relay 15, thereby controlling the output state of the heat source of the control object. Then, a prescribed purpose is achieved by selecting properly the characteristic of a single thermistor.
