    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter medium for mist separators which can raise oil trapping and drainage performance, can improve oil or water trapping efficiency and can reduce pressure loss caused by clogging.SOLUTION: A filter medium 15 used in an oil mist separator 10 includes an aggregate of fibers and is so constituted as to remove oil or water in a blow-by gas. The filter medium 15 is constituted in a way that high density fiber layer 18 upstream of the gas flow to trap oil or water is laminated with a low density fiber layer 19 downstream to drain the oil or the water trapped in the high density fiber layer 18. The high density fiber layer 18 and the low density fiber layer 19 are constituted in a way that the forms of the fibers each exhibit oil or water trapping ability and its drainage ability. For example, the high density fiber layer 18 is made of crimped fibers and the low density fiber layer 19 is made of straight fibers.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blow-by gas reducing device for avoiding the production of intake deposits resulting from oil which cannot be removed by an oil separator, and also to provide an internal combustion engine equipped therewith. SOLUTION: In the blow-by gas reducing device, a PCV valve 97 and an oil trapper 98 for collecting oil which cannot be removed by the oil separator 92 are provided on the downstream side of the oil separator 92 which separates and removes oil mist from blow-by gas, and a flow path for the blow-by gas ranging from the oil separator 92 to the oil trapper 98 is located in a cam chamber 3A of the engine E. This suppresses the production of condensed water in the flow path and eliminates the existence of a region where sludge producing conditions (NOx, oil and acid water) are established, and also greatly reduces the amount of oil to be introduced into an intake system and avoids the production of intake deposits.
