SOLUTION: In the method for predicting the deformation quantity due to the contraction of the molded article 10, the supporting point P of bending moment M is obtained according to the contraction rate distribution of a molded material constituting the molded article 10 and the deformation quantity is predicted using the supporting point P. In this case, it is preferable that the bending moment M is obtained using the supporting point P and the deforming quantity is predicted using the bending moment M. Further, it is preferable that the molded article 10 is an injection molded article.

Edge wave deviations are reduced by controlling the cooling profile of the resin. The apparatus can be configured to include at least one heat control element disposed adjacent to an edge of the mold cavity. After plasticized resin has been injected into the mold cavity, the edge of the mold cavity can be thermally regulated relative to the center of the cavity.
