      SOLUTION: A prescribed zone including a welded metal 2 and a heat affected zone (HAZ) 4 at a boundary portion of a base material 1 is removed by performing a grooving operation. A repair welding operation is performed on the removed prescribed zone, and the removed zone is filled with new welding metal 6. In this case, the prescribed zone is removed by performing the grooving operation so as to satisfy the following relationships, 0.01≤a/T≤0.3, where T is the thickness of the base material 1, and "a" is the thickness of the base material 1 after removing the prescribed zone. The thickness "a" after removing the prescribed zone is determined to be smaller than the heat affected zone caused by the repair welding.

      SOLUTION: By multiplying a low cycle fatigue strength of a material for a boiler furnace wall pipe in the atmospheric air, being an object to be evaluated, by a reduction factor of the fatigue strength of the material in hydrogen sulfide-contained gas, a fatigue curve under hydrogen sulfide environment is determined. From the fatigue curve and a maximum strain range of the material in a relvant portion, the number of cycles until the occurrence of pipe damage, such as groove-form corrosion, is determined. With the numerical value thus obtained, a state of the damage of the pipe is decided and evaluated to perform lifetime evaluation, and this way reduces an inspection cost.
