    • PURPOSE:To increase durability of a gear pump, by preventing contact of a driving gear and a driven gear at or near the tooth end corner parts of the gears and thereby preventing seizure or wear of them by making the gears from a ceramics material and applying crowning to them. CONSTITUTION:A driving gear 6 and a driven gear 8 are made of alumina or a ceramics material such as silicon nitride and crowning is applied to them. That is, the tooth thickness of the gears 6, 8 is reduced gradually at the opposite end parts in the direction of the face width of the gears so that they are not brought into contact with each other at said parts. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to prevent breaking of the gear teeth at their tooth end corner parts 15 that has been caused by the impulsive load acted to the gears during operation of a pump. Thus, since seizure at the sliding surfaces or early wear of gears is not caused even if the gear pump is used for a fluid having a low viscosity such as water, warm water or a solvent.
