摘要： A high voltage generator of the Marx (3) type is described, the generator comprising a circuit which includes at least two capacitors (C) which are arranged to be charged in parallel and to be discharged in series, wherein during discharge an output voltage is generated adding up a charging voltage of each of the at least two capacitors (C), wherein the circuit comprises at least two spark gap switches (5), wherein each spark gap switch comprises two electrodes (7a, 7b) separated by a gap distance (G) which is filled with a pressurized gas, and wherein each spark gap switch is configured to allow an electric spark to pass between its two electrodes in case a potential difference between said two electrodes exceeds a breakdown voltage, and wherein the Marx generator includes a compensation unit (9) which is configured to compensate for effects resulting from changes in pressure of the pressurized gas.

摘要： A line protector for a communications circuit provides a gas tube surge voltage arrester (18) for primary surge protection and a back up air gap arrester (30, 32) for secondary protection in the event of venting of the gas tube. The gas tube is housed in a metallic tubular element (27) that forms one electrode (30) at the air gap (44,46), the other electrode at the air gap be provided by the rim (32) of one of the gas tube electrodes. The tubular element is initially formed of circular cross section, then deformed to an oval cross section to be dimensioned to provide engagements (40, 42) across the minor diameter of the oval with the gas tube when the latter is telescoped therewith. The fit provided by the aforesaid engagement establishes the correct air gap width.

摘要： An arrester block assembly comprises a plurality of arrester blocks (32) each having conductive surfaces (38) on opposite ends of the block. The blocks (32) are arranged with adjacent surfaces in abutting engagement, and electrically conductive adhesive (37) connects the adjacent surfaces to provide a strong physical bond and low resistance electrical connection between the blocks. The adhesive is also provided to connect a spacer plate (36) and a connector (34) at opposite ends of the assembly.
The adhesive may be an electrically conductive silver epoxy cement which may be cured if desired. The assembly may be received within a bore (22) of a gapless arrester for connection to an electrically conductive probe (16).

摘要： A line protector for a communications circuit comprises an insulating base (6) having a ground pin (16) and two pairs of line pins (8, 10; 12, 14), one pair for each side of the line, projecting through the base. Each pair of line pins has a contact (20, 20a) electrically connected thereto and projecting away from the base. The ground pin also has a contact (22) projecting away from the base and spaced from the line pin contacts. A metal oxide varistor (24) having opposed faces (26, 28) provides surge voltage protection for each side of the line. The line pin contacts are bonded to one face (28) of the varistor while the ground pin contact is bonded to the other face (26) of the varistor. Electrically conductive spring clips (30, 32) span the varistor and are pressed toward its opposite faces and in electrical contact with the ground pin contact (22). An insulating sheet (34) is interposed between the clips and the line pin contacts to prevent one or more of the clips from grounding the line except in such surge condition that heats the varistor sufficiently to melt the insulation (34).
