摘要： An actuator system for a record and/or read head. The head is mounted in a structure which is movable in multiple directions around a pivot point (72). The head is mounted to an end of the structure opposite the pivot point. The actuator system is preferably used with a stationary media (5) which has a curved surface in the shape of a portion of a sphere with the center of the sphere being the pivot point of the actuator. The head is preferably an optical head with an objective lens (4) mounted at the end of an elongated actuator arm structure (70) which pivots around the pivot point. The remaining optical elements and the emitter (82) and detector (88) of the optical system are mounted farther up on the structure so that their weight is closer to the pivot point to reduce the inertia of the actuator arm.

The high-density optical disc includes a lead-in area, a data area and a lead-out area. The lead-in area has major information. A minimum mark or space length of the major information recorded in the lead-in area is longer than that of data recorded in the data area. The major information of the lead-in area is copied to the lead-out area. On the basis of the data reproduction or recording method, an optical disc device can correctly read and confirm the major information from the high-density optical disc, minimize the interference between a mark and space in high-density recording data, reduce the effects of scratches or dust on the disc, and efficiently prevent an erroneous data reproduction or recording operation.
