    • The present invention discloses a method of combusting waste (W) with a stoker-type waste incinerator (1), in which a significant reduction in discharging toxic matters and also substantial improvements in heat recovery have been achieved together with limited feeding of combustion air for efficient, combustion of waste (W).
      More particularly, with the present method of combusting waste (W), adjustments can be made such that the volume of the primary combustion air (A1) becomes 0.8~1.0 as the air ratio, the volume of the secondary combustion air (A2) 0.3~0.4 as the air ratio and the total air volume less than 1.3 as the air ratio respectively. A reduction zone (B) of 0.8~1.0 as the air ratio in the combustion chamber is formed by drawing the re-circulating combustion gas (G') from the primary combustion chamber (7) in the zone where the burnout stoker (4c) is positioned with respect to the outside, and injecting the re-circulating combustion gas (G') into the combustion chamber on the upstream side of the feeding position of the secondary combustion air (A2). Furthermore, a combustion control system comprising a steady state control part (D) to combust the waste (W) in a steady, stable state and a fuzzy control part (E) to restore an abnormal combustion state of waste (W) to a steady, stable state can be incorporated.

    • An incinerator system includes a main chamber (32), double reburn tunnels (41, 42), an excitor (134) within a reburn tunnel, a grate (234) near the incinerator's inlet (231) to permit the drying and initial combustion of refuse, and an ash scoop (278). The grate (234) placed at the main combustion chamber's entrance and above the incinerator's floor (33) permits the retention of newly introduced refuse for a brief period of time. During this time, the refuse may dry, loose its volatile hydrocarbons, and then drop through to the main chamber's floor and undergo its usual combustion. For very high Btu waste, the grate permits the initial, very hot burning to occur away from the incinerator floor to prevent slagging. A fluid may pass through the grate to keep it from overheating. In particular, air may enter the main incinerator chamber through nozzles (355) placed on the grate to both cool the grate and support combustion.

    • An incinerator system for bulk refuse and hydrocarbon-containing liquids comprises an enclosed main chamber (32) having a fire-resistant floor means (33) for holding and burning material thereon; an inlet opening (231) for the introduction of solid bulk refuse; an outlet opening (67,68) for the egress of the gaseous products of combustion from said main chamber; a grate (436) located within said main chamber for holding refuse newly introduced through said inlet opening (231); and cooling means for reducing the temperature of said grate. The cooling means comprises primary passageways for receiving a flow of cooling fluid and nozzles for providing fluid communication between said passageways and said main chamber (32). The cooling means further comprises a further passageway isolated from said main chamber (32) so that cooling fluid flowing in said further passageway is prevented from entering said main chamber. Control means is provided for selectively permitting cooling fluid to flow through said primary passageways and then through said further passageway.
