    • A liquid sampling valve comprising a fixed element (10,14) having a contact surface and a movable element (12) having a contact surface to be able to travel so as to surface contact the fixed element at the contact surface thereof; any one of the fixed element (10,14) and the movable element (12) having a measuring part on their respective contact surfaces, the measuring part having an opening (Pi) and measuring a liquid sample incorporated from the opening; both the fixed element (10,14) and the movable element (12) being provided with a plurality of cleaning passageways (ai,bi,ci,di,ei,fi) each having an opening at a location spaced apart from the central part of the contact surface, the location being different from the locations where the opening for the measuring part is provided; the fixed element (10,14) and the movable element (12) assuming two states in accordance with movement of the movable element (12) relative to the fixed element (10,14), the first state being assumed when the liquid sample is incorporated into and filled in the measuring part, the second state being assumed when the liquid sample filled in the measuring part is conveyed to the outside; the plurality of cleaning passageways being arranged in such a manner that the openings (ai,bi,ci,di,ei,fi) of the cleaning passageways filled with the cleaning liquid in any one of the fixed element (10,14) and the movable element (12) relatively travels, in accordance with the movement of itself, on the contact surface of the complementary counterpart element to clean their contact surfaces while cleaned areas are mutually joined together to make approximately one turn on the contact surfaces.

    • A pneumatic valve is disclosed comprising: an outer housing (2) formed from a continuous single-piece of material and defining a fluid inlet port (4) and a fluid outlet port (14); a separate piston sleeve (32) housed within the housing; and a piston (16) slidably mounted within the piston sleeve. As the present invention comprises a continuous single-piece housing (2) and a separate piston sleeve (32), the geometry of the housing is able to be optimized for its intended function and mechanical strength, whilst still providing the piston (16) with a suitable piston receiving surface. The internal surface of the housing need not be made to the high tolerances and have the special surface coatings required in conventional housings that act as the piston sleeve/cylinder, because in the present invention the housing does not act as the piston cylinder. The independent piston sleeve (32) of the present invention may be made from a different material to the housing and is able to be provided with the required tolerances, so that the sleeve has the desired properties. Also, as the sleeve is formed independently from the housing, it is able to have a simple geometry and is readily accessible prior to installation in the housing. As such, the piston sleeve (32) is able to be accurately machined and, if required, may be accurately coated on its internal piston-receiving surface prior to installation in the housing 2.
