摘要： Described herein is a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with oscillating racks. The CVT includes an input shaft and a plurality of cams that are coupled with the input shaft. The cams are configured to rotate with a rotation of the input shaft. The CVT also includes a plurality of racks that are coupled to respective cams. The racks are configured to oscillate with the rotation of the input shaft. The CVT further includes a plurality of pinions that are coupled to respective racks and a plurality of intermittent shafts that are coupled with respective pinions. The CVT also includes an output shaft that is coupled with the intermittent shafts. The output shaft is configured to rotate with a uniform rotation and a speed ratio relative to the rotation of the input shaft. Because the CVT does not use friction elements, many downsides of conventional CVTs may be mitigated.

摘要： The present invention relates to a continuously variable gear ratio changing system suitable for use as a bicycle gear but generally useable in other applications, There is provided an input for receiving rotational motion from a source, an output for transmitting rotational motion to a wheel or the like and a continuously variable transmission mechanism. The continuously variable transmission mechanism comprises a swashplate assembly where a swashplate is rotatably coupled to the input for rotation about a swashplate bearing such that rotational movement of the swashplate is transferred to the output. Control means vary the angle of the swashplate assembly and a coupling which has a reciprocating member moves along the direction of a first axis of rotation in response to reciprocal movement such that the angle of the swashplate assembly with respect to the first axis of rotation determines the proportion of the input which is transmitted to the output via the coupling and therefore the gear ratio of the gear in use.

摘要： It is desirable to have self-powered hinge mechanisms to fold or unfold hinged members. The mechanisms must be compact so as to not use up room yet must exert sufficient force and have enough mechanical advantage to unfold the hinged members. One suitable mechanism for unfolding the members is a spring powered hinge. These hinges operate in only one direction however and are not capable of folding the members. Therefore, a motor driven hinge assembly is provided to fold and unfold the hinged members. The assembly includes first (12) and second (14) members hinged together, drive links (32a, 32b) slidingly connected to the first member (12) and pivotally connected to the second member (14), a motor (26) disposed within the first member (12) and a gear train (42) and lead screw (44) connecting the motor (26) with the drive links (32a, 32b). Actuation of the motor (26) effects pivotal motion of the second member (14) relative to the first member (12) between folded and unfolded positions.
