    • A clutch device (100) for the transmission of a torque between a drive-input element (14), which is rotatable about an axis of rotation (28), and a drive-output element (40), which is rotatable about an axis of rotation (50), in accordance with demand, for which purpose said elements can be coupled in non-positively locking fashion by means of a clutch element (102), is characterized in that the drive-input element (14) and the drive-output element (40) form in each case one clutch surface, which clutch surfaces form a clutch gap (104) with a gap width which decreases in a radial direction in relation to at least one of the axes of rotation (28, 50), wherein the clutch element (102) can be placed into a first position and into a second position which differ with regard to the radial position within the clutch gap (104) and thus with regard to the contact pressure between the clutch element (102) and the clutch surfaces. A clutch device of said type basically permits an axial arrangement of the (main) components from which it is formed, that is to say of the drive-input element, of the one or more clutch elements and of the drive-output element, whereby the size of a clutch device of said type can be kept small at least in a radial direction with respect to the axes of rotation. At the same time, a clutch device of said type can be of structurally very simple form, and can nevertheless ensure reliable functioning.

    • In a locking type reverse input blocking clutch of the present invention, smooth finished surfaces having no directionality are formed, by barrel polishing, on surfaces brought into contact with rollers (10) while rotation is being transmitted from the input side to the output side, i.e. an inner peripheral cylindrical surface of an outer ring (5) and a surface of a lid portion (6b) opposed to the rollers (10). With this arrangement, it is possible to reduce the sliding resistance between the rollers (10) and the outer ring (5) and between the rollers (10) and the lid portion (6b), without the need to reduce the forces of springs (11) for pushing the rollers (10) into narrow portions of wedge-shaped spaces (14). This in turn makes it possible to reduce the torque necessary to transmit rotation from the input side to the output side, while maintaining high locking performance.
