    • The present invention relates to an exhaust system (24) for a combustion engine (30) of a marine vessel (1). The exhaust system (24) includes a flow redirection arrangement (48, 50, 56) in the exhaust gas flow path for restricting a flow of liquid flowing in the reverse flow direction towards the exhaust system inlet. A chamber is disposed in the exhaust gas flow path. The flow redirection arrangement includes a baffle plate configured to direct a first stream of the liquid to a first side of the baffle plate and to direct a second stream of the liquid to a second side of the baffle plate to split the flow of liquid into the first and second streams. The exhaust system also includes a recessed region, defined by a first surface of the chamber, into which the baffle plate is configured to guide the first stream. The recessed region is configured to direct the first stream back towards the second stream to collide therewith. The invention also relates to motor assemblies and marine vessels having such exhaust systems.

    • An underwater exhaust system (90;100) is provided comprising an air regulator housing (94), an exhaust valve (26) operatively coupled to said air regulator housing (94), said exhaust valve (26) having a water interface side with a lower sealing edge (30) and an upper sealing edge (28), a bubble deflector (46,54; 102) adjacent said exhaust valve (26), said bubble deflector (46,54, 102) being coupled to said air regulator housing (94) and defining an air pocket (96) communicating with said water interface side of said exhaust valve (26), and at least one water inlet passage (92,93;104) formed in said bubble deflector (46,54; 102) at a lower level relative to said lower sealing edge (30) of said exhaust valve (26) to prevent free flow of fluid within the air regulator housing (94).
