摘要： A system and method for providing a fuel dispenser (14) with radio frequency customer identification capabilities. The system and method determines whether a transponder (23, 25) containing customer identification data is within range of a dispenser (14) that requires activation by the customer to initiate a transaction and has an associated reader (20) for emitting radio frequency signals and receiving customer identification data from the transponder (23, 25) responsive to the emitted radio frequency signals. When the transponder (23, 25) is within range of the dispenser, an in-range indication is provided to the customer. Upon activation of the dispenser (14) following a determination that the transponder (23, 25) is within range, the customer identification data received by the reader (20) is associated with a transaction at the activated dispenser. The transaction at the activated dispenser (14) is then permitted and charged to the customer according to the customer identification data.

摘要： An optical payment transceiver and an optical settlement system using the same uses a personal portable terminal incorporated with an optical transceiver as a card substitute payment unit for settlement. Here, card information is incorporated in a personal portable terminal incorporated with an optical transceiver such as a portable phone or a PDA and the optical transceiver is connected to a card inquiry machine to thereby optically transmit and receive card information. The card inquiry machine recognizes the received card information in the same manner as that of the card reader reading a magnetic card, and transmits the card information to a VAN company server or a card company server, to then request for an approval and settle transactions. The present invention is applied to most fields where financial transactions are performed as in a general commerce, a toll gate fee or tunnel passage fee collection system, a subway or bus fare levying system, a gas station, a department store, a drive-thru ordering system, a vending machine, and a fee payment system of kiosks. Also, the present invention can be applied to an entrance/exit security system requiring personal identification. Thus, the present invention can use a portable terminal as a payment unit without carrying a cash or cards, to thereby provide an effect of performing a safer and more reliable credit transaction.

摘要： An automated system (2) is provided for servicing a vehicle (26) and its occupants. An identification signal is communicated either while the vehicle (26) is approaching the terminal (12) or upon arrival and a control signal is then generated beginning and terminating the requested servicing and maintaining control over the operation. Vehicle (26) servicing, such as fueling (9) and washing (6) can be provided robotically to the vehicle (26) without the vehicle (26) occupants being required to emerge from the vehicle (26) or become physically involved in its implementation. Payment is automatically charged to the customers account. Other services, such as sales to the vehicle (26) occupants can be obtained using a single identification and control unit (20) either in the vehicle (26) or outside of it.
