One such embodiment, in the form of a method, includes receiving a document image from an imaging device (218) of a scanner (102 or 208) (step 404) and determining a type of the document represented in the document image (step 406). The document image may then be processed to obtain document metadata (step 408), and the document image and metadata representative of the document metadata and document type are added to a data structure (step 410). This method may further include adding transaction-related metadata to the data structure. The data structure may then be stored on the scanner (102 or 208), transmitted via local communications link to a host device, transmitted via a network (110) to a database (112) for storage, or transmitted via a network (110) to another system for one or both of processing and storage.

摘要： The image reading apparatus for photoelectrically reading an original image includes an image reading device and a detection device. The image reading device has a first reading unit for reading a visible image carried by the original image and a second reading unit for reading a reference image in a wavelength different from that used to read the visible image. The detection device acquires correlative pixel distribution information between a visible image signal and a reference image signal using the visible image and the reference image having been read by the image reading device and detects an image defect caused by a foreign particle deposited on the original image and a flaw of an original using the information. The apparatus can detect the image defect of the film with pinpoint accuracy without erroneous detection without depending upon a type of the film and a state of the image, and output in excellent productivity an image of high quality whose image defect has been preferably corrected.

The reading unit reads identification information formed on a sheet conveyed. The erasing unit erases a part or all of a first image formed on the sheet after the identification information is read. The controller obtains image data corresponding to the identification information that is read by the reading unit. The controller controls the image forming unit so as to form a second image, which is indicated by the obtained image data, onto the sheet from which the first image has been erased.
