    • Disclosed is a system and method of providing a segment routing as a service application. The method includes receiving a configuration of an internet protocol environment. The configuration can be a layer 3 configuration of a single cloud environment or even across multiple cloud environments. The configuration defines routing, forwarding, and paths in the environment between different entities such as virtual machines. The method includes receiving a parameter associated with a workload of a tenant. The parameter can be a service level agreement (i.e., a best bandwidth available), a pathway requirement, a parameter associated with specific workload, and so forth. Based on the configuration and the parameter, the method includes generating tenant-defined layer 3 overlay segment routing rules that define how the workload of the tenant will route data in the internet protocol environment using segment routing.

    • According to the present invention, when an operation at an ingress/egress of a network is implemented as an action resulted from searches of tables, needed action patterns can be reduced, and accommodation of action resources can be expanded. In each of switches, there are provided a plurality of stages of tables including at least a first table and a second table mutually different in mapping of egress information of a network and user information to a packet. Each of the tables is used for searching whether predetermined information of the packet matches a search key of an entry in the table and an operation defined by an action corresponding to the matched search key is performed. The first table is searched for a first packet that has been received. When the search key of the first table is matched, the operation according to the action corresponding to the search key of the first table is applied to the first packet to convert the first packet to a second packet. The second packet is supplied to the second table. The second table is then searched for the second packet. When the search key of the second table is matched, the operation according to the action corresponding to the search key of the second table is applied to the second packet to convert the second packet to a third packet (refer to Fig. 5 ).

    • The apparatuses being controlled are intricately individually controlled without constraints imposed such as the number of the apparatuses being controlled or the monitoring frequency. A communication apparatus selects, among a plurality of control information pieces, the control information piece matching a packet received and which is highest in a priority level. The communication apparatus processes a packet received based on the selected control information piece. The control apparatus includes a control information generation unit that generates a plurality of control information pieces having match conditions overlapping at least partially one with another, a ranking in a priority level different one from another and processing contents different one from another, and a control unit that sets the plurality of control information pieces in the communication apparatus. The communication apparatus performs the processing of modifying the control information piece, among the plurality of control information pieces, which is highest in a priority level, based on a modifying condition previously set on the control information piece basis. Communication policies may be changed over by modifying the priority level.
