    • A cable connector (1) includes a plurality of insulating components (4, 5, 6) arranged around a joint between cable conductors exposed from ends of a pair of power cables (2A, 2B) as connection objects. The plurality of insulating components comprise a female component (4) comprising a conical inner contact surface (4a) located on the inner side, a male component (5) comprising a conical outer contact surface (5a) located on the outer side, and an intermediate component (6) that is arranged between the male and female components (4, 5) and comprises an insulating portion (60) comprising an insulating material and a through-hole (6c) formed in the center along an axial direction, the insulating portion further comprising a female-side contact surface (6a) in contact with the inner contact surface and a male-side contact surface (6b) in contact with the outer contact surface. The intermediate component (6) is configured such that the male-side contact surface (6b) has a smaller area than the female-side contact surface (6a) and that a gap formed between the through-hole (6c) and the joint/the power cable serves as an air escape path to allow the air to escape from an interfacial surface between the female-side contact surface (6a) and the inner contact surface (4a) when the female-side contact surface (6a) is brought into contact with the inner contact surface (4a) of the female component.

    • A downhole cable termination apparatus is provided for terminating a cable that is to extend downhole from a tubing hanger to electrical equipment. The apparatus includes: a first seal for sealing the apparatus uphole of the first seal from the downhole environment; a second seal for sealing the apparatus uphole of the second seal from the downhole environment; and a sleeve arranged to extend around the cable and to be attached to the cable, the sleeve being for providing a radially outwardly facing engagement portion for the first seal and a radially inwardly facing engagement portion for the second seal, the sleeve having two parts, a first part being arranged to be attached to the cable and providing the radially outwardly facing engagement portion, and a second part providing the radially inwardly facing engagement portion and provided separately from the first part, and the sleeve being arranged such that when the apparatus is assembled on the cable the second part is joined to the first part.
