    • To provide a protection element, which evens the amount of flux on a fusible conductor and improves variations in fusing characteristics, even if voids occur in the flux which cause variations in the amount of the flux coated on the fusible conductor. A protection element (10) is provided with: an insulated substrate (11); a heating body (14); an insulating member (15); two electrodes (12); a heating body internal electrode (16); a fusible conductor (13) which is stacked over the two electrodes (12) from the heating body internal electrode (16) and fuses a current path between the two electrodes (12) by heating; a flux (17) coated on the fusible conductor (13) so as to superimpose on the heating body; and a cover member (1) attached to the insulated substrate covering at least the fusible conductor. The cover member (1) has a cylindrical protrusion (2) formed on an inner surface (1a) of the cover member (1) so as to contact the flux (17), and a communication hole (3) communicating with the inner surface (1a) side of the cover member (1) from the protrusion (2) is opened on a side wall surface of the cover member (1).

    • A subminiature circuit protector includes a substrate (18) carrying a metal fuse element (20) hermetically sealed in a glass sleeve cartridge (30). The fuse element may comprise a film deposited on the substrate, or, alternatively a metal strip or wire. Leads (40, 42) extend from opposing ends of the sleeve for connection in a circuit, and a gas is sealed in the sleeve to provide a suitable environment to improve operating lifetime and interrupting capability. The circuit protector is made by placing the substrate (18) carrying the fuse element (20) in the glass sleeve (30) and placing the leads in contact with the fuse element. The assembly is heated in the presence of a gas below atmospheric pressure to a temperature sufficient to soften the glass. The pressure is then increased to cause the ends of the glass sleeve (30) to form a hermetic seal about the leads (40, 42).

    • The present invention relates to a fuse link (1) used in alternate current medium- or high-voltage systems with a current frequency of 50Hz, comprising a spring-type striker pin (8), and designed for the protection of electrical devices against the consequences of short circuits and overloads. The fuse link (1) comprises a porcelain housing (2) with a star-core (3), external end caps (11) closed by plugs (10a, 10b), star-core end caps (5) with a ringshaped first tap (7) designed to ensure electric contact between the star-core end cap and the external end cap of the fuse link. The spring-type striker pin (8) is positioned along the axis of the star-core (1). Each of the end caps of the star-core (5) is provided with an additional second tap (7') that is designed to centre the star-core (3) relative to the axis of the fuse link and is located on the circumference of the end cap of the star-core (5) at an obtuse angle (α) relative to the tap (7). Both taps (7, 7') are provided with spring contacts (6) bent in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the fuse link. The spring-type striker pin is centred along the longitudinal axis of the fuse link using tongues (20a) of a disc spring (20), installed in one of the plugs (10b) closing the fuse link (1) on the side where the striker pin (8) is positioned.
