摘要： The present invention relates to an apparatus (10) for feature suppression in dark field or phase contrast X-ray imaging. The apparatus comprises an input unit (20), a processing unit (30) and an output unit (40). The input unit is configured to provide the processing unit with an X-ray attenuation image of a region of interest of an object. The input unit is also configured to provide the processing unit with a dark field or phase contrast X-ray image of the region of interest of the object. The processing unit is further configured to identify a first feature in the X-ray attenuation image; to identify a second anatomical feature in the X-ray attenuation image; and to identify the second anatomical feature in the dark field or phase contrast X-ray image. The first feature is an obscuring anatomical feature depicted in the X-ray attenuation image with higher contrast than in the dark field or phase contrast X-ray image. The processing unit is also further configured to register the dark field or phase contrast X-ray image to the X-ray attenuation image based on the identified second anatomical feature. The processing unit is configured to determine a location of the first feature in the X-ray attenuation image; and to locate the first feature in the dark field or phase contrast X-ray image comprising utilization of information relating to the first feature identified in the X-ray attenuation image by transferring the determined location to the dark field or phase contrast X-ray image. The processing unit is still further configured to suppress the first feature in the dark field or phase contrast X-ray image to generate a feature suppressed dark field or phase contrast X-ray image. And the output unit is configured to output data representative of the feature suppressed dark field or phase contrast X-ray image.

Smoothed difference data describing a smoothing of the differences contained in the positive or negative difference data are determined and, based on the positive or negative difference data and the smoothed difference data, artifact position data is determined describing the position of an artifact in the patient image data.

摘要： An imaging system can use high-energy electrons at a low dose level to generate 3D computed tomography images and/or 2D radiographic images of living tissue and other objects. In some embodiments, a nozzle directs a source of high-energy electrons to the imaging target, and a detector system detects physical quantities of electrons that interact with the imaging target. In some embodiments, a computer system can calculate estimated paths taken by individual electrons within the imaging target, determine interactions between voxels of a digitized image of the imaging target and individual electrons, and reconstruct a digitized image of the imaging target based at least in part on the determined interactions between individual electrons and voxels. The imaging target can include but is not limited to living tissue, humans, pediatric patients, small animals, and other objects, such as those used in industrial applications.

It is found that efficient, automated identification of the region of interest interior to the ribcage can be achieved by the use of both a bone distance mask and a surface distance mask. The technique solves the problem of accurate and fast identification of the region of interest for a wide range of sizes and shapes of mammals, e.g., small mammals such as mice.
