    • The present invention provides a diffuser plate and a method for designing a diffuser plate in a simple structure capable of achieving optical properties with less luminance irregularity and color irregularity and good quality of appearance when an image is projected. A diffuser plate (1) according to the present invention is a diffuser plate where a plurality of microlenses (2) are placed on a principal surface (S1), shapes of the plurality of microlenses (2) along a cross-section perpendicular to the principal surface (S1) are different from one another and do not have an axis of symmetry. A method for designing a diffuser plate (1) according to the present invention is a method for designing a diffuser plate (1) where a plurality of microlenses (2) are placed on the principal surface (S1), including determining one or a plurality of shapes of reference microlenses (3) where a cross-section perpendicular to the principal surface (S1) has an axis of symmetry; placing the plurality of reference microlenses (3) on the principal surface (S1); forming a phase modulation shape (4) having a curve continuously varying with respect to the principal surface (S1); and determining a shape of the plurality of microlenses (2) by combining a shape of the plurality of placed reference microlenses (3) and the phase modulation shape (4).

    • An optical engine for a projector according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a first light source unit; a second light source unit which outputs a light with a color which is different from that of the first light source unit; a third light source unit which outputs a light with a color which is different from those of the first and second light source units; a micro display panel which outputs a predetermined image; a fly-eye lens which equalizes lights and includes a plurality of cells, each of which is configured by a convex lens; and a projection lens which projects a generated projection image to the outside on the basis of an output light of the first to third light source units and an output image, wherein two or more cells among a plurality of cells have shapes different from shapes of other cells. Therefore, optical efficiency can be improved while simplifying a structure and a component of the projector so that manufacturing costs and an installation space can be reduced and display quality can be improved.
