2.1 Eine Ultraschall-Impuls/Echo-Messanordnung besteht aus einem an der Luftfeder-Abdeckplatte (4) ortsfest angeordneten Ultraschallwandler (12), einem dazu ortsfest angeordneten Referenzreflektor (14), einem am Abrollkolben (8) bzw. am Puffer (18) ortsfest angeordneten Zielreflektor (16) und einer Sende- und Empfangs/Auswerte-Elektronik (30).
2.2 Zur präzisen Bestimmung des in dem Luftfeder-Innenraum (20) herrschenden Druckes wird sowohl die Laufzeit als auch die Amplitude des Referenzsignals ausgewertet, wobei der Ultraschallwandler (12) eine λ/4-Anpassungsschicht (22) aufweist, deren Impedanz nicht dem geometrischen Mittel aus den Impedanzen des Ultraschallwandlers (12) und der Umgebungsluft des Luftfederinnenraums (20) entspricht sondern dass eine "Fehlanpassung" vorliegt.
Zur Ermittlung des Luftfeder-Innendrucks kann die Auswerte-Elektronik (30) bei Umgebungsdruck kalibriert werden.

Vorzugsweise wird das erfindungsgemäße Druck-Messverfahren auch zu einer laufzeitabhängigen Federhöhen-Bestimmung in einer Kraftfahrzeug-Luftfeder (2) verwendet.

摘要： A control system for establishing grade and elevation control for a tool of a construction apparatus for maintaining the vertical position of the tool relative to a reference includes a first ultrasonic transducer (52) configured to be carried by the construction apparatus, with the first transducer transmitting and receiving acoustic waves, at least one reflector (72), a second ultrasonic transducer (54) configured to be carried by the construction apparatus, with the second transducer (74) receiving acoustic waves, and a controller (24) coupled to the first and second ultrasonic transducers which drive the transducers to produce an acoustic wave and monitors the time reflections of the acoustic wave are respectively received by the first and second transducers. The controller determines the local speed of sound based on a first in time reflection received by the second ultrasonic transducer and determines the distance from the construction tool to a reference based on the local speed of sound and a second in time reflection received by both the first and second ultrasonic transducers. The controller produces at least one electrical signal as a function of the distance of the ultrasonic transducers from the reference. In preferred form, the controller communicates the signal to a positioning device, which signal actuates the positioning device to adjust the position of the construction tool with respect to the reference.

摘要： Fluid velocity measurement apparatus which utilises Doppler-shift spectral analysis includes a narrow line width light source (1), the light from which passes through a beam expander (3) to provide an irradiated region, for example a two-dimensional plane, in which velocity measurements may be taken. Light scattered from small particles in the irradiated region is collected in an imaging system (4) which enables spectral analysis of the scattered light for determining the velocity of the light scattering particles in the irradiated region. A single camera (13) is used in the imaging system (4) to obviate the need for costly electronics to synchronise images obtained. Also to improve the accuracy of measurement, selected parameters of the apparatus may be measured (2,5) to allow for perturbations in the velocity measurements obtained.

摘要： Zur optimalen Ausnutzung der Achslasten von mehrachsigen luftgefederten Fahrzeugen und zur Regelung des Abstands zwischen Aufbau und Achse soll mit einem einzigen Verfahren bzw. einer einzigen Vorrichtung sowohl die exakte Federhöhe als auch der Federdruck bestimmbar sein. Eine mit einem Ultraschall-Impuls/Echo-Meßsystem ausgestattete Luftfeder (2) enthält eine dem Chassis zugeordnete Sende/Empfangs-Komponente (14), einen (ersten) Referenzreflektor (20) und eine achsfesten Reflektor-Komponente (16). Die Luftfederhöhe kann in herkömmlicher Weise aus dem Relativwert der Laufzeiten der auf der Referenz- und der Meßstrecke zurückgelegten Ultraschallimpulse bestimmt werden. Für die Druckbestimmung wird erfindungsgemäß die Sendesignalleistung oder die Empfangsverstärkung eines in zu dem ersten Referenzreflektor (20) unterschiedlich entfernt angebrachten zweiten Referenzreflektors (22) derart geregelt, daß die über den Schallwandler (14) gemessene Amplitude (Intensität) der vom ersten Referenzreflektor (20) zurückgeworfenen Schallwellen auf einem konstanten Wert bleibt.

The method also includes determining a first distance between the material and the sensor unit and determining a second distance between the sensor unit and a main unit that lowers the sensor unit. In addition, the method includes determining a level of the material in the tank using the first and second distances. The method could further include calibrating the sensor unit to compensate for variations in a medium within the tank, where the sensor unit transmits wireless signals through the medium to determine the first distance. Determining the first distance could include using an ultrasonic measurement technique, and determining the second distance could include using a non-contact servo measurement technique.

摘要： A distance and temperature sensing unit is used on paving vehicles. The unit has a first set of range sensors of a first diameter and a second set of range sensors of a second diameter. The unit calculates a weighted average distance to a road surface based on ranges measured by the multiple sensors. The unit also has a temperature sensor on a temperature bar. The bar is affixed to the unit by a flexible connection preventing break-off when the bar encounters obstacles, like the road surface, while the paving vehicle is moving.
