The rotary hearth furnace has a heated zone and an unheated zone. The means for discharging the exhaust gas to the outside of the furnace is provided in the unheated zone. A means for intake of external air into the furnace is provided in the unheated zone and upstream of the means for discharging the exhaust gas to the outside of the furnace in the direction of exhaust gas flow.

摘要： A method and an apparatus produce a product in at least one phase from an organic component in a feed gas stream. The method includes forming a process zone including a process molten bath and a process gas space disposed over the process molten bath. Molten droplets of said molten bath are then dispersed across the process gas space. The feed gas stream is then directed into the process gas zone, wherein the organic component is exposed to said molten droplets, thereby converting at least a portion of the organic component to a product in at least one phase. The apparatus of the invention comprises a reactor which includes a gas formation section, having a feed inlet, and means for retaining a solid feed component within the gas formation section. The apparatus also includes a process section, disposed in the reactor, having a process gas space, a gas outlet and a process molten bath disposed therein. Further, means are provided for dispersing molten droplets of said molten bath across the process gas space to expose an organic component in the feed gas stream to molten droplets.

摘要： An improved melting retort and method of melting materials wherein the retort allows for easier material feeding capability with a wider range of types of materials while minimizing the movement of any unmelted materials to the pouring lip of the retort. The retort is mounted for rotation on either a bearing or rollers to enable feed materials directed into the retort from one peripheral location to be advanced into one or more several melt areas by rotating the retort about its central axis. In each of the melting areas, a heat source, such as an electron beam gun or plasma torch, is provided above the open top of the retort and melts the materials therebelow. In one embodiment, the molten material is poured from an inner peripheral portion thereof and gravitates through a central hole of the retort and into a secondary crucible or mold. In this geometry, the melted material can be fed into the secondary crucible in a continuous manner. In another embodiment, the pouring lip of the retort is at an outer peripheral portion for gravitation of the molten materials into a secondary crucible near the outer periphery of teh retort. In either embodiment, the secondary curcible is provided with a heat source thereabove to shape the molten materials in the crucible.
