    • A control system for a heating and ventilation system comprises a central controller (C) connected by a data bus (18) to a number of priority sub-stations (2). Each priority sub-station (2) is associated with a number of further sub-stations (3-5) to form two or more groups of sub-stations (A,B). Each sub-station (2-5) includes controllers which receive information from sensors and output control information to heating and ventilation elements (1). The priority sub-stations (2) can effect control of the sub-stations within its group independently of the central controller (C) thereby obviating the need for passing control information between the central controller (C) and all the sub-stations (2-5). This provides a control system which is readily expandable by the addition of new sub-stations to a group or new groups of sub-controllers thereby providing a more flexible planning and a more adaptable control system.
