    • The invention relates to an actuating device, particularly for the selection of fixed gear ratios of a shift-by-wire gear changing transmission. The actuating device comprises an actuating element (1) that can be displaced in relative motion in relation to a base unit (2) having a ball socket (4', 4') by means of a joint ball (3). The actuating element (1) can be displaced within at least one pivoting plane between at least two gear positions in relation to the base unit (2). According to the invention, the actuating device is characterized in that a biasing unit, having an elastically flexible surface region (7) in the ball socket radial direction, is arranged in at least one recess of the ball socket (4', 4'). The elastically flexible surface region (7) has a pressure contact element (8) that is arranged substantially centered on the surface region (7) and can be brought to a stop against the joint ball (3). The contact surface of the pressure contact element (8) is located in the force-free neutral position of the biasing unit at a distance to the center point of the ball socket (4', 4') that is smaller than the radius of the joint ball (3). The invention enables the implementation of permanently clearance-free actuating devices that are robust during operation, particularly of gear changing transmissions. Due to the design-related simplification and reduction of the number of parts, the potential for cost savings both in production and assembly is given.
