The washing drying machine having a heat pump (220) comprises: a cabinet (110); a tub (130) provided in the cabinet; a drum (170) provided in the tub and formed to be rotatable; a circulation passage (180) configured to circulate air inside the tub in a withdrawing manner; a circulation fan (235) provided at the circulation passage (180) and configured to circulate air; the heat pump having a compressor for compressing a refrigerant and a heat exchanger for heat-exchanging with air of the circulation passage; a heating unit configured to heat inside of the tub; and a controller (250) configured to control the heating unit to be supplied with a power in order to heat the inside of the tub, before the compressor (222= is operated during a drying course. With such a configuration, a drying efficiency may be enhanced, and a drying time may be shortened.
