In the clothes treatment apparatus, the level of water stored in the water supply tank or the drainage tank is directly sensed. Consequently, it is possible to sense the level of water stored in the water supply tank or the drainage tank without delay and to secure a sufficient space to store to be supplied during one cycle or condensed water, thereby improving the reliability of operation of the clothes treatment apparatus.

The control method includes sensing a level of water in the water supply tank (80), and upon determining that the level of water in the water supply tank (80) is low, operating the water supply pump (45) to move the residual water stored in the receiving space (141) to the steam unit(40). Hence, when it is necessary to replenish the water supply tank with water, the water supply pump is operated to remove residual water from the cabinet, thereby preventing the overflow of residual water during separation of the water supply tank.
