摘要： An envelope feeder for a printer having two aligned conveyors moving at different speeds is disclosed. An upstream conveyor moves a backwards slanted procession of envelopes having aligned upper edges onto an inline downstream conveyor that accelerates the envelopes along a curved upper edge so that by the time any single envelope arrives at the printer ingestion or feed slot, the envelope is almost completely flat yet supported upwards slightly so that the pickup roller of the printer can easily and reliably ingest the envelope for processing. Due to the speed of the downstream conveyor, envelopes are continually and reliably presented to the printer to avoid printer stalls. The configuration reduces the amount of skill and operating labor required to establish a high-speed envelope feed source for high-speed printing.

摘要： The conveyor system is provided for carrying a shingled stream of items along at least two possible transport paths. The conveyor system includes an incoming endless-belt conveyor unit. The downstream end portion of the incoming conveyor unit includes a first conveyor belt and a second conveyor belt forming juxtaposed first and second conveyor belt runs between which the items are frictionally engaged when carried along the incoming portion of the transport paths. A diverter is provided within the downstream end portion of the incoming conveyor unit. The diverter includes at least one diverter segment pivotable around a transversal pivot axis, each diverter segment supporting one of the first rollers for the first conveyor belt run and one of the second rollers for the second conveyor belt run. A method of minimizing the length of a diverter in a conveyor system is also disclosed.

摘要： Provided is a defective-workpiece discharging device that discharges a workpiece having a defect to a discharge path from a conveyance path that conveys a plurality of workpieces relating to absorbent articles in a conveyance direction at a predetermined conveyance pitch. The conveyance path has a first conveyance path and a second conveyance path that is located downstream from the first conveyance path. The defective-workpiece discharging device includes: a sorting mechanism that is provided between the first conveyance path and the second conveyance path, and that sorts the workpieces into either one of the second conveyance path and the discharge path, the workpieces having passed the first conveyance path; a defect detection sensor that detects the defect and outputs a defect detection signal, a passage detection sensor that is provided on the first conveyance path, and that detects passage of the workpieces at a predetermined position on the first conveyance path and outputs a passage detection signal; and a controller that controls a sorting operation of the sorting mechanism, based on the defect detection signal and the passage detection signal. An end of the first conveyance path on the sorting mechanism side and the predetermined position are separated by a distance greater than or equal to the conveyance pitch.
