摘要： The present invention relates to a scaffold (60) installed within a large structure (50) such as a pressure vessel or a tank of a ship, and an insulation system construction method using the same. An object of the present invention is to provide a scaffold (60) wherein an insulation system can be simply constructed, the scaffold can also be easily installed and/or broken up and the working speed and stability thereof can also be improved, by improving a method of constructing an insulation system within a large structure, and an insulation system construction method using the same. To achieve the above object of the present invention, there is provided a scaffold (60) for use in performing desired work within a large structure, which comprises a supporting structure (70) installed adjacent to both side surfaces and a top surface of the large structure, and a carrying unit (80) installed movable along the supporting structure to allow materials to be carried or to provide a working space for a worker thereon, wherein the supporting structure is installed to be movable along a wall surface of the large structure.

摘要： A self-contained device for cleaning and coating hold surfaces in a bulk carrier includes four major components, namely a horizontally mobile vertical tower (28) (e.g., with walking beams (30) for permitting the device to move into the four corners of the hold (12) into which it has been lowered), a vertical trolley (32) for permitting the workers to reach with their equipment all elevations within the hold, a horizontal trolley (34) for permitting the workers to achieve optimum proximity to a wall surface (24), and cleaning and coating support equipment and systems (36). The device can be lifted into and out of the cargo hold altogether, or in sections. A walkway on the horizontal trolley (34) preferably extends on all four sides, in order to permit working from at least two sides simultaneously for each of four positions of the base on the bottom of the hold. For cleaning and coating, automated abrasive blasting equipment (70) and automated coating spraying equipment (76) is provided for horizontal travel along each of the four sides of the horizontal trolley, e.g., on the safety rail.

摘要： For cleaning and/or painting the exterior 18 of a ship hull while the ship 10 is in dry dock 14, one or more staging devices 32 are provided. Each includes a metal framework tower 34 supporting a vertically movable elevator assembly that comprises a trolley 36, from which a variably laterally projecting platform 40 is supported on articulated, cantilevered arms 38. Adjustable, non-porous shrouds 94, 102, 110, 122 enclose a volume of space 44 between the outside of the tower 34 and an increment 88 of one side of the exterior of the ship hull, from above, fore, aft and outside. Cleaning and painting operations are conducted from the platform 40 on the hull increment 88, and debris is removed from the dry-dock deck 12 area enclosed by the shroud, after which the device is moved by crane 20, typically twenty feet (6.1 m), towards the ship's bow 24 or stern 26. The shrouds 94, 102, 110, 122 are then adjusted so that a further hull increment 88 can be worked on. The trolley 36 and extension-retraction of the platform support arms are operated by electrohydraulic winch 60 and hydraulic cylinders 80, 84, respectively. The margins 112 of the shroud 94 may be fastened by magnets 114 to the hull 18. Air drawn through the enclosed volume from above at 120, is drawn out near the dry-dock deck 12 at 46 for processing to remove dust and appropriately treat VOCs, if present.

The set-up for each vessel (10) also includes, for each hold (18), a ventilation unit (38) provided on a hatch plug (106), and a transporter (32) for the staging system. Groups of staging systems (34) are served by on-deck air compressors (40). Staging systems (34) actually engaging in blasting are served by recycling shot blast units (36) which recycle and supply steel shot. Following blast cleaning, the cleaned surfaces are painted from the platforms.
