    • A process for depositing a powder metal onto a substrate (10) is performed by providing a substrate (10), depositing at least one layer of powder metal onto a surface (24) of the substrate (10) using a non-oxidizing carrier gas so that the powder metal plastically deforms without melting and bonds to a surface (24) upon impact with the surface (24), and subjecting the at least one powder metal deposited layer to a treatment to improve density and/or raise a temperature of the at least one powder metal deposited layer. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the treatment to improve density and/or raise a temperature of the at least one powder metal deposited layer is a laser treatment effected by a laser (60).

    • The object of the present invention is to provide a spray painting device with a heating system for the carrier fluid, that permits to ensure stable operating conditions in connection with precise temperature requirements at the delivery, without requiring adjustment interventions and without bringing about significant structural complications.
      According to the invention, this and other objects are achieved with a delivery duct (2,102) for a spray painting device, said duct (2,102) comprising: at least one flexible pipe length (2a,102a); at an end of said length (2a,102a), connection means to a production unit of a carrier fluid; and at the opposite end of the length, a delivery gun (5) adapted to receive a painting sustance feed, the duct further comprising carried fluid heating means arranged at least along a portion of said length (2a,102a), wherein said heating means comprise at least one semiconductor self-regulating heating resistance element (7,107), adapted to keep a constant temperature when supplied with a constant voltage input.

    • A nozzle assembly (48) for a kinetic spray system includes a convergent portion (72) , a throat portion (82) , and a divergent portion (76) , each cooperating together to define a passage (66) therethrough for passing a mixture of powder particles (22) suspended in a flow of a high pressure heated gas. The nozzle assembly (48) further includes an extension portion (86) attached to the divergent portion (76) and extending to a distal end (88) a pre-determined length (L) from the divergent portion (76) of the nozzle assembly (48) . The extension portion (86) permits a dragging force exerted on the powder particles (22) by the flow of high pressure heated gas to act upon the powder particles (22) for a longer duration of time, thereby permitting the powder particles (22) to accelerate to a greater velocity than has been previously achievable.
