The filtration system (10) further comprises a retentate output (22) allowing retentate to exit the retentate loop (14), and a permeate output (20) allowing permeate to exit the feed stream at the other side of the membrane (18). 摘要： The method for purifying liquids purifies a saline liquid, e.g., salt water, using a plurality of first phase reverse osmosis (RO) units and at least one final phase reverse osmosis unit. The plurality of first phase reverse osmosis units are arranged in series. At least some of the concentrate in a last reverse osmosis unit of the series is recycled back to the permeate or output side of that unit to provide a mixed permeate. The mixed permeate is then passed successively to the permeate side of each preceding reverse osmosis unit in the series. This increases the salt content of the liquid in the permeate side of each phase, thus reducing the concentration differential across reverse osmosis membranes of the first phase reverse osmosis units.

- the speed/flow rate detected by means of said sensor (22) is periodically compared with at least one predetermined value, and the activation of a device (38), which cleans said filtering elements (6) without interrupting the filtering, is controlled on the basis of such comparison.

摘要： A method or process is provided for removing selenate from an ion-exchange or an adsorption media regenerant stream. The regenerant stream is processed in a nanofiltration membrane which produces a permeate and a reject stream containing the selenate. A reducing agent, such as iron, is mixed with the reject stream and this gives rise to an oxidation-reduction reaction that reduces the selenate to selenite. Thereafter, the method includes adsorbing the selenate onto an adsorbent, such as hydrous iron oxide. The adsorbent and adsorbed selenite is removed from the reject stream via a solids-liquid separation process.

摘要： The invention provides a process and system for producing sodium chloride brine suitable for use in a sodium hydroxide production plant having a chlor-alkali membrane cell, said process comprising (a) nanofiltering feed water containing dissolved sodium chloride to produce a permeate and a retentate, wherein the retentate comprises at least 85% of any divalent ions from the feed water; and (b) purifying the permeate to produce the sodium chloride brine suitable for use in a sodium hydroxide production plant having a chlor-alkali membrane cell, wherein step (b) comprises electrodialyzing the permeate to produce a concentrate having a greater concentration of total dissolved salts and a smaller proportion of divalent ions than the permeate and a diluent comprising water and divalent ions separated from the permeate. The invention also provides a process and system for producing sodium hydroxide, and a process for the commercial production of soda ash.
