    • An intraocular lens includes an optic, which includes a first lens having a first optical axis for alignment with an optical axis of the human eye having a macula; and a second lens having a second optical axis. The second optical axis and the first optical axis enclose an angle between 0.5 and 10 degrees. The first and second lens are arranged next to one another in a direction transverse to the first optical axis to provide no overlap in a direction along the first optical axis such that the first lens and the second lens each, independent from one another, image onto the macula of the eye. The angle and a direction of the second optical axis are chosen such that the second lens images onto a functional part of the macula of the human eye, which functional part is not compromised by a defect, such as a scotoma.

    • An intra ocular lens, IOL, comprises a lens with a main lens part having a surface, the main lens part having an optical power of between about -20 to about +35 dioptre; an optical centre, and an optical axis through the optical centre; a recessed part having a surface which is recessed with respect to said surface of said main lens part, the recessed part having at least one boundary with said main lens part, said recessed part being positioned at a distance of less than 2 mm from said optical centre and comprising a near part having a relative dioptre of about +1.0 to about +5.0 with respect to the optical power of said main lens part. The boundary or boundaries of the recessed lens part with said main lens part form a blending part or blending parts shaped to refract light away from said optical axis, and the recessed part is at two sides bounded by semi-meridians running from the optical centre, the recessed part thus being shaped as a meridian zone. The blending parts at said two sides are within semi-meridians enclosing an angle larger than 1 degree and less than 35 degrees, and a shape of the blending parts having an S-shaped curve having at its steepest part a slope or first derivative at a central range of the blending part at 1.6 mm from said optical centre of less than 0.41.
