Pushing through a rear-engagement opening in the component results in the barbed arm (24) being bent, forming a restoring force, acting on the barbed arm (24), for engaging behind the opening in the component by way of the barb (14, 16). From the peripheral region of the cutout (22), from which the barb (24) protrudes, there extends a lever protrusion (26) that extends obliquely outwards and faces away from the barbed arm (24), said lever protrusion (26) exerting an additional pressure force on the barb (14, 16) upon introduction into a receiving cutout opening (30, 38) in the component (32, 44), said additional pressure force likewise acting in the direction of the pressure force, brought about as a result of the bending of the barbed arm (24), of the barb (14, 16), wherein the lever protrusion (26) itself likewise exerts a pressure force on the inner side (36, 34) of the receiving cutout (34, 40) and thus brings about an additional retaining force, or said lever protrusion (26) exerting an additional rear-engagement releasing movement and/or a rear-engagement preload on the barb (14, 16) in the event of introduction into a rear-engagement opening in the component, as a result of an associated inward movement.

    • A simple, low cost, light weight biscuit jointer (21) comprises an elongated motor housing (23), a motor end cap assembly (25) fixed to one end of housing (23) and a base assembly (27) for engagement with a workpiece. To form a biscuit receiving slot in a workpiece, the motor housing (23) and end cap assembly (25) are pivoted relative to base assembly (27) for sweeping a an elongated, generally cylindrical bit (29) through an opening (31) in a base plate (33). The sweeping action is effected by an operator rotating a handle (35) fixed to end cap assembly (25) counterclockwise (Fig. 2) relative to base assembly (27). A handle (37) is used to stabilize base assembly (27) as house assembly (23) is pivoted to form the slot.
