    • There is provided a fuel cell system and a control method therefor which are capable of shortening a time necessary for heating aqueous fuel solution to be supplied to the fuel cell to a predetermined temperature without scarifying fuel utilization efficiency. A fuel cell system 10 includes a fuel cell 12 which has an anode 12b. Fuel supplying means 41 provides circular supply of aqueous methanol solution S to the anode 12b in the fuel cell 12. The fuel supplying means 41 includes an aqueous solution tank 18 for storing the aqueous methanol solution S. By moving aqueous methanol solution S from the aqueous solution tank 18 to a water tank 44, the amount of aqueous methanol solution S which is in circulation at the time of start up is made smaller than the amount for normal operation.
