摘要： A pneumatic tire comprising a pneumatic cavity and an outer circumferential tread (2), spaced apart bead portions, two sidewalls (8) individually connecting said bead portions with the periphery said tread (2) and comprising a sidewall rubber composition, and a carcass supporting said tread (2) and said sidewalls (8) is disclosed. At least one of said sidewalls (8) contains at least one groove (9) and said groove (9) contains an elastomeric tube (3) within said groove (9). The tube (3) is secured within said groove (9) with a preferably sulfur cured rubber composition (11) contained in said groove (9), wherein the cured rubber composition (11) communicates with one or more walls of said groove (9) and with said tube (3). Also, a method of securing an elastomeric tube (3) within a preferably annular groove (9) contained in a sidewall (8) of a pneumatic tire (1) is disclosed as well as a method of making a tire (1) is disclosed.

摘要： A tire assembly comprising a tire (12) having a tread portion (38), a pair of sidewalls (32) extending radially inward from the tread portion (38) to join with a respective bead area (34) and a supporting carcass for the tread portion (38) and sidewalls (32) is disclosed. The tire assembly (10) further comprises a pump passageway (42) positioned within a bending region of the tire (12), the pump passageway (42) being operative to open and close as the tire (12) rotates, a valve assembly (200) in fluid communication with the pump passageway (42), a pocket (400) formed in the tire (12) and a filter assembly (300) mounted in the pocket (400). The filter assembly (300) is in air flow communication with the valve assembly (200). The assembly further has at least one or more of the following features: (i) the pocket (400) is an elliptical pocket formed in the tire (12), wherein the pocket minor axis is aligned with the radial direction of the tire (12), and wherein the filter assembly (300) is elliptical in shape; (ii) the filter assembly (300) is formed of a housing (304) and a cover (306), the cover having one or more holes (322) for communicating air into the housing (304), wherein the cover (306) is connected to the housing (304), the housing (304) having an interior cavity (308) having a filter media (550) housed therein, wherein the housing (304) has a hole (312) in fluid communication with the valve assembly (200), and wherein a preferably flexible collar (500) surrounds the cover (306); (iii) the pocket (400) has an area larger than the area of a filter housing (304).

摘要： A tire assembly is disclosed comprising a tire (12) having two beads, a tread portion (38), a pair of sidewalls (32) extending radially inward from axial outer edges of the tread portion (38) to a respective bead area (34), a supporting carcass, and an innerliner disposed radially inward of the carcass, the innerliner having a innerliner surface facing an interior cavity (40) of the tire (12). The assembly further comprises a pump passageway (42) enclosed within a bending region of the tire (12) and a regulator device (200) in fluid communication with the pump passageway (42). The regulator device (200) has a mounting surface coated with rubber and adhered to the innerliner surface with an adhesive. Also, a method for making a tire assembly is disclosed comprising the steps of: providing a green tire having a sidewall and a tire cavity; molding a pocket (400) in the sidewall of the tire, the pocket having a hole extending though the sidewall of the tire into the tire cavity; molding a groove in the sidewall of the tire; curing the tire; coating a green rubber patch (1100) on both sides of the patch with rubber cement and inserting the green rubber patch into the pocket (400); affixing a filter housing bottom to the green rubber patch (1100); curing the green rubber patch (1100); inserting a filter media (550) into the filter housing (304); and securing a cover (306) to the filter housing (304).

摘要： A method of making a cord-reinforced rubber article is disclosed. The method comprises the steps: atomizing a mixture of a halogenated hydrocarbon, a carrier gas, and at least one member of the group consisting of hydrocarbon sulfides and polymerizable monomers, to form an atomized mixture; generating an atmospheric pressure plasma from the atomized mixture; exposing a reinforcement cord to the atmospheric pressure plasma to produce a treated reinforcement cord; and contacting the treated reinforcement cord with a rubber composition comprising a diene based elastomer and at least one member of the group consisting of methylene donors and methylene acceptors. Also, a cord-reinforced rubber article made in accordance with this method is disclosed. The rubber article may be a pneumatic tire, a hose, a transmission belt, a drive belt, an air spring, a conveyor belt and a drive track.
