The base material and the lens exhibit a high coloring density, a high color disappearance rate and good photochromic characteristics, and are excellent in characteristics of the base material such as hardness, heat resistance and impact resistance of a cured product, and further has such a strength (toughness) sufficient for use in a rimless spectacle.

摘要： Novel fulgimide compounds substituted on the nitrogen atom constituting the imide ring with a phenyl group having an electron attractive group at least at one of the m-positions, which are represented by general formula (I), wherein the group of general formula (a) is an optionally substituted divalent aromatic hydrocarbon or unsaturated heterocyclic group; the group of general formula (b) is an optionally substituted norbornylidene, bicyclo[3.3.1]nonylidene or adamantylidene group; and R2 is an electron attractive group; and the use of them as photochromic material. The fulgimide compounds develop colors in higher densities than those of the photochromic compounds of the prior art.

摘要： Photochromic compounds having such a high fading rate as to prevent color tone changes during fading, being reduced in the discoloration upon deterioration, and having an excellent persistence of photochromism. The photochromic compounds refer to novel chromene compounds each bearing a substituted phenyl group and an alkyl group respectively at the 2- and 5-positions of a naphthopyran ring and represented by, for example, general formula (1) wherein R1 is an alkyl group, R?2 and R3¿ are each a substituted phenyl group, and R?4 and R5¿ are each a substituent.

摘要： A coating agent composition obtained by mixing fine inorganic oxide particles, a polymerizable alkoxysilane compound, a polymerizing catalyst, an acid aqueous solution and an organic solvent, and satisfying the following conditions (1) to (3): (1) the polymerizing catalyst is at least partly an acetylacetonato complex; (2) a ²-dicarbonyl compound (excluding acetylacetonato complex) having two carbonyl groups in the molecule via a carbon atom, is further contained as a catalyst stabilizer; and (3) the fine inorganic oxide particles and the alkoxysilane compound are contained in a total amount of 23 to 40% by mass. The coating agent composition is capable of forming a cured film having excellent properties such as abrasion resistance on the surfaces of plastic ophthalmic lens through the curing conducted at a low temperature for a short period of time, and does not affect the color tone of the lens material even when it is directly applied to the surfaces of the plastic lens material that contains a coloring matter, such as sunglass lenses.

摘要： A photochromic laminate comprising a base material of a thermoplastic resin having light-transmitting property, a crosslinked resin layer formed on the surfaces of the base material and containing inorganic colloidal particles in an amount of 20 to 40% by mass, and a photochromic coating formed on the surfaces of the crosslinked resin layer. Though the laminate has the layer exhibiting photochromic property formed thereon by the coating method, the surfaces of the base material of a thermoplastic resin are suppressed from being whitened or swollen. Therefore, the base material exhibits excellent optical properties, a high adhesiveness to the photochromic coating, and superior durability.
