摘要： A color video display system using a white light source and attaining increased brightness is disclosed. The brightness can be increased in both temporal and spatial filtering systems. In a temporal system, a portion of the total illumination time is allocated to white light to raise the overall brightness. In a spatial system, part (26) of the illuminated area (18) is allocated to white light. The parts (20, 22, 24, 26) could be allocated as regions on a spatial light modulator (18), or a spatial light modulator could be dedicated to that area to use white light. Control means determine a minimum brightness level and operate the spatial light modulator to achieve the minimum brightness during projection of the white light.

摘要： A display system with a pointer that is not restricted by wires or sensors. The display uses a spatial light modulator (14) for projecting an image on the screen (20). During a time period when all of the cells of the modulator (14) are in the same state, a cursor projected onto the screen by the pointer is reimaged from the screen to a detector (26), which translates the cursor image into signals for a central processing unit (38). The central processing unit (38) then directs the system as to what tasks are being dictated by the cursor.

One embodiment of the invention forms a cardinal array of digital micromirror elements by staggering alternate rows in an array. All of the elements in a pixel block are controlled in unison such that the pixel block acts like a single pixel. 摘要： The invention described herein details a method to control the operating window of illumination for an optical device or system. By connecting together two light sensitive devices (46a and 46b), one very sensitive to light (46a), the other mildly sensitive to light (46b), it is possible to designate when essential signals (38) are allowed to pass to a device or system. The outputs of the two devices are fed through logic circuitry (52 and 54) which determines the output. The logic circuitry is selected dependent upon which operation window is chosen. The output of the logic is then connected to the control signal.
