摘要： The invention relates to a plug heater (1) for use in a pencil-type glow plug (5) and a pencil-type glow plug (5) for internal combustion engines, which have improved electric and mechanical properties. The plug heater (1) comprises at least one substantially inner insulation layer (10) and one substantially outer first conductive layer (15, 16), both layers (10; 15, 16) comprising a ceramic composite structure. The plug heater (1) comprises a second conductive layer (20) that also comprises a ceramic composite structure. The second conductive layer (20), in the area of a tip (40) of the plug heater (1) on the combustion chamber side, is linked with the first conductive layer (15, 16). The second conductive layer (20) extends inside the insulating layer (10).

The swirl chamber (20) and the swirl channel (21) are formed into the disk surface facing the valve body (12) as recesses. The swirl channel (21) comprises a channel cross-section and the nozzle hole (19) comprises a hole cross-section, which are dimensioned in such a way that the ratio of the channel cross-section to the hole cross-section is equal to or greater than 1.5.

Said plug consists of a plug housing (2), a connection part for the electrical current that is located on said plug housing (2), in addition to a sheathed-element heater (4), which usually takes the form of a tube comprising an embedded heating element. The connection part and the heating element are electrically coupled by means of a connection bolt (5) and a contact element (6). According to the invention, the connection bolt (5) and the contact element (6) are at least partially surrounded inside the housing (2) by an electrically insulating plastic sleeve (7).
