    • An inspection system (1) for inspecting an inspection target (300) using an inspection target image includes a first lighting device (103) configured to irradiate light onto the inspection target (300) from a given direction; a second lighting device (104), provided between the inspection target (300) and the first lighting device (103), configured to irradiate light onto the inspection target (300) from an oblique direction with respect to the given direction; an image capture device (102) provided at a position opposite to a position of the inspection target (300) with respect to the first lighting device (103) and the second lighting device (104) in the given direction, the image capture device (102), the first lighting device (103), the second lighting device (104), and the inspection target (300) being aligned along the given direction; a first image acquisition unit (201) configured to acquire an image of the inspection target (300), captured by the image capture device (102) with the light having been irradiated onto the inspection target (300) from the first lighting device (103), as a first inspection target image of the inspection target (300); and a second image acquisition unit (202) configured to acquire an image of the inspection target (300), captured by the image capture device (102) with the light having been irradiated onto the inspection target (300) from the second lighting device (104), as a second inspection target image of the inspection target (300), wherein an inspection of the inspection target (300) is performed based on the first inspection target image and the second inspection target image of the inspection target (300).

    • A disclosed image scanning device illuminates a document with a light source, focuses light reflected from the document on an image sensor to obtain one-dimensional images of the document, and obtains a two-dimensional image of the document from the one-dimensional images. The device includes an illumination lens for dividing a light beam emitted from the light source into multiple light beams and a combining unit for combining the multiple light beams on the document. A disclosed image scanning method includes the steps of illuminating a document with a light source; focusing light reflected from the document on an image sensor to obtain one-dimensional images of the document; and obtaining a two-dimensional image of the document from the one-dimensional images. In this method, a light beam from the light source is divided into multiple light beams and the multiple light beams are combined on the document. A disclosed image forming apparatus includes the image scanning device.
