摘要： In a furnace for sintering non-oxidic ceramics, particularly Si₃N₄, which comprises a space for accommodating a ceramic shaped body (12), carbon heaters (8) arranged around the ceramic shaped body in said space and heat insulating layers (13) of carbon fiber mat that cover the inner walls of the furnace, sheetings (18) of laminated graphite leaves having an ash content of not more than 0.3% by weight are provided between said heat insulating layers (13) and said ceramic shaped body (12). The carbon heaters are of high purity graphite having a carbon content of at least 99.9980%, a silicon content of not more than 5 ppm and an iron content of not more than 9 ppm by weight. These measures protect the shaped body from harmful influence of carbon fiber dusts liberated from the insulating layers during sintering.

摘要： Agreen body for a ceramic arc tube for a metal vapor discharge lamp is successfully produced with the outer diameter of the arc discharging portion larger than that of the electrode holding ends. A stiff plastic body of a ceramic material and a thermosetting binder is extruded into a straight tubular body (3) which is placed in a previously heated molding die (13,14) having a cavity of the desired shape. A compressed fluid is supplied via one end of the tubular body (5) into the interior thereof to inflate the central portion into contact with the inner surface of the die. The inflated body is hardened and dried using the heat of the die. Good dimensional precision is achieved and the resulting arc tube, after firing has a high transmittance.

摘要： A thin-walled ceramic tube having a high light transmission and a high dimensional precision, useful as an envelope for a high pressure lamp, is produced by an extruding process in which a stiff plastic body suitable for extruding is prepared, said body is extruded and the extruded tube is fired. The method is characterized in that the stiff plastic body consists essentially of ceramic raw material, a thermosetting organic substance and water and in that the extruded tube is hardened by heating immediately after extruding. A furnace 6 is provided immediately adjacent the extruding dies 1,2. Air is supplied into the tube interior at a pressure in the range 0.2 to 1.0 kg/cm 2 via a passage 4 in the inner die 2.

摘要： A ceramic arc tube (12) of a metal vapour discharge lamp has an arc discharge portion (15) with electrode-holding end portions (13, 14) integrally formed at opposite ends thereof. The outer diameter of the arc discharge portion is larger than that of the electrode-holding end portions. The ceramic arc tube is made by placing a tubular green body (5) in a fusiform cavity (7) of a die (6), and inflating the middle portion of the green body more than end portions thereof, and firing the thus shaped green body.
