A compact layout arises if the cylinder head (2) has a recess (20) into which the fresh gas distributor (4) is incorporated in the region of the flap arrangement (8), and if the region (22) of the flap arrangement (8) incorporated in the recess (20) protrudes from the housing flange (16) towards the cylinder head (2).
