摘要： Apparatus for the seriatim separation and feeding of garment parts from a shingled stack of the parts to a predetermined destination. Comprising the apparatus is a picker head containing a depending array of needles adapted to positively engage the leading edge of the uppermost part on the stack. The picker head is supported for arcuate motion in the course of effecting separation of the engaged first part, and is arcuately displaced at a high rate of acceleration to aid in overcoming the resistance to separation between the first and second parts in the stack. Following separation, the separated part is transferred to a second location at which the head is withdrawn from the transferred part. Operable concomitantly with part separation by the picker head is a hold down clamp for applying a predetermined downward force on the remaining stacked parts while a vacuum force is being applied from underneath for retarding this displacement in the course of the engaged part being separated.

For subsequent shingling, the rough shingled stack is driven on a conveyor (210) under a series of spreading rollers (222) having positive pressure to drive the rollers (222) onto the stack.

摘要： For flipping over flexible and limp planar workpieces such as garment fabric, an apparatus includes a primary workpiece propeller (20) formed by a rotating cylindrical brush (24) for contacting the fabric workpiece (48). A slot (30) of sufficient size to receive the fabric workpiece (48) is positioned vertically beneath the primary propeller (20). The slot (30) has a flared upper end in contact or near contact with the propeller (20). The fabric workpiece (48) is drawn into the slot (30) off an input tray (26) by the rotation of the propeller (20) and follows the contour of the flared open end of the slot (30). A pinch roller or cylindrical brush (42) on a piston rod (44) is advanced into the slot (30) to hold the body of the fabric workpiece (48) momentarily fixed against the opposite wall of slot (30) in response to a control signal (A) generated by a control (36) actuated by a photosensor (32) sensing the trailing edge of the fabric workpiece (48). The fabric workpiece (48) enters into the slot (30) until the trailing edge of the fabric (48) is in contact with the primary propeller (20). The trailing edge of the fabric workpiece (48) is retained by the propeller (20) and thereby drawn to the opposite side of the flared opening of the slot (30) and is subsequently pulled out of the slot (30). The fabric workpiece (48) has thereby been inverted so that its top side is now in contact with the output tray (28).

摘要： For selectively inverting flexible and limp planar workpieces (100) such as fabric, an apparatus includes a primary workpiece propeller (112) having a cylindrical means for contacting the workpiece (100) about a central rotating axis. A slot (160) of sufficient size to receive the workpiece (100) is positioned in a substantially vertical orientation beneath the primary propeller (112). The slot (160) preferably has a flared upper end positioned directly beneath and in contact or near contact with the propeller (112). The workpiece (100) is drawn into the slot (160) by the rotation of the propeller (112) and follows the contour of the flared open end of the slot (160). The workpiece (100) enters into the slot (160) until the trailing edge of the workpiece (100) is in contact with the primary propeller (112). The trailing edge of the workpiece (100) is drawn by the propeller (112) to the opposite side of the flared opening of the slot (160) and is subsequently pulled out of the slot (160). Collisions are prevented between workpieces by a control circuit (36) that instructs the apparatus when to eject the workpieces (100).
