    • The invention relates to a device (1) for predicting the remaining lifetime of a component (2, 3, 4) in a compressed air supply system (S) for a vehicle. This device comprises a memory unit (5) for a value related to the degradation of the component (2, 3, 4), at least one first input for a usage quantity (6a, 6b) which is a measure for the operating time and/or number of operating cycles of the component (2, 3, 4) and/or for the amount of compressed air delivered by the compressed air supply system (S), at least one second input for at least one state variable (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d, 7e) which is a measure for at least one vehicle and/or air supply operation condition or environmental condition. It also comprises an evaluation unit (8) that is configured to combine the usage quantity (6a, 6b) and the state variable (7a, 7b, 7c, 7d, 7e) into a lifetime decrement value (15) that is a measure for the degradation of the component (2, 3, 4) caused by the usage according to the usage quantity (6a, 6b), and update the value in the memory unit (5) according to this lifetime decrement value (15).
      The invention also relates to an advantageous method for calibrating the device (1).
