摘要： The data handling system which incorporates the channel adpater control mechanism comprises a central control unit (30) attached to at least one host system through channel adapters (40) and a service processor (44) comprising a microprocessor running a program, attached to the central control unit and to at least one operator console through an input/output bus (104).
The mechanism comprises a service processor interfacing means (78) attached to the input/output bus (104) and comprising register means into which the microprocessor causes bit configurations to be written in response to commands issued from one operator console or from the microprocessor program, said bit configurations being indicative of a desired status of the channel adapters,
control means (80,112) for providing the bit configurations read from the register means to the channel adapter(s), whereby each of them may be set into the desired status, as indicated by the bit configurations.
