摘要： A wireless communication system includes a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs) (110, 115, 120) and an access point (AP) (105). The AP communicates with the WTRUS via an antenna. In one embodiment, the AP configures the antenna to a wide beam configuration that covers a desired service area and transmits a Request-To-Send (RTS) control message. When the AP receives a Clear-To-Send (CTS) from one of the WTRUs, the AP determines optimal antenna settings for communication with the one WTRU. The AP configures the antenna to a narrow beam configuration and transmits at least one data packet to the one WTRU. When the AP receives an acknowledgement message indicating that the data packet was successfully received by the WTRU, the AP configures the antenna to the wide beam configuration. In another embodiment, the AP is configured to transmit and receive data packet fragments from the WTRUs and configure the antenna accordingly.

摘要： Transmission power levels of uplink/downlink communication is controlled in a wireless communication system. A receiving station produces and provides to a transmitting station power control information based upon received signals from the transmitting station. 摘要： Wireless mobile unit communication initiation is provided in a radio network that has a plurality of base stations, each providing wireless communication services in a respective geographic coverage. The wireless communication is established by first transmitting an omnidirectional sounding pulse from a wireless mobile unit. Information related to the detected sounding pulse is communicated to an interface by each base station detecting the sounding pulse. One of the base stations that detected the sounding pulse is selected for mobile unit communication based on the communicated information and directs a communication beam to the mobile unit to establish wireless communication. Alternatively, one or more of the base stations that detected the sounding pulse direct a communication beam to the mobile unit and the mobile unit selects unit the base station with which it is to establish wireless communication. Preferably, smart antennas, including directional beamforming capability, are employed by the base stations.

摘要： A UE transmitter in a 3G UTRAN wireless communication system performs dynamic link adaptation (DLA) with dynamic semi-static parameters for overcoming RF propagation difficulties. Separate transport channels (DCH) are defined for each semi-static parameter, including forward error coding (FEC) coding type and rate (Step 201/202). When data rate is decreased during DLA, a TFC is selected having the desired FEC coding type and rate (Step 203/204/205). Since this adjustment occurs at each TTI, mapping of data packet codes in each time slot on the physical channel includes the benefit of FEC rather than reduced data rate alone. This permits improved SIR in a timeslot that may be experiencing RF propagation difficulties during the UL mapping process.

摘要： A wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) and a method for a WTRU to establish access to a channel using random access procedure are disclosed. The method comprises receiving an indication of a first set of available signatures for a random access channel (RACH), receiving an indication of a second set of available signatures for enhanced uplink transmissions, randomly selecting, at the WTRU, a signature from the second set of available signatures for establishing random access to an enhanced uplink, and sending a preamble using the selected signature.

摘要： The present invention is related to a method and system for sending and reducing uplink feedback signaling by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) related to transmission of multimedia broadcast multi cast service (MBMS) data over a high speed down link packet access (HSDPA) channel. A Node B may pre-allocate a time frequency region or a common channelization code for the feedback. A triggering criterion for reporting a channel quality indicator (CQI) is set and WTRUs send a CQI to a Node B only if the triggering criterion is satisfied. The triggering criterion may be a current operating CQI value at the Node B, or based on erroneous transport block reception statistics, or a predetermined time period. A feedback reduction method related to ACK/NACK includes the WTRU sending an indication of an average number of transmissions needed to successfully decode the data instead of sending an ACK/NACK for every transmission interval.
