    • A dual chamber pumping apparatus (10) and method for infusing fluids to a patient includes a disk (12) having a fluid inlet (14) and a fluid outlet (16). Resilient membranes (22, 24) are attached to opposite sides of the disk (12) to establish dual pumping chambers (30, 32), and a network of one-way valves (34, 36) connects the fluid inlet (14) in alternating fluid communication with the pumping chambers (30, 32). A one-way outlet valve (16) connects the pumping chambers (30, 32) alternately in fluid communication with the fluid outlet (16). The one-way valves utilize a hollow, elastomeric tube (44) fixedly disposed in passageways within the disk (12) for covering and uncovering respective ports in response to fluid pressure differentials on the inner and outer surfaces of the walls of the hollow, elastomeric tube (44).

    • A disposable infusing device for ambulatory patients comprises a disk-shaped cover plate (18) and a disk-shaped impeller plate (32) which are interconnected by a stretched membrane (38) that joins the edge of the cover plate with the edge of the impeller plate. The effect of the membrane is to urge the plates into juxtaposition. A fluid port is formed on the cover plate for fluid communication through the port (2) with a collapsible fluid chamber (36) established between the plates. Fluid when injected into the chamber between the plates, is subsequently expelled through the port for controlled infusion to a patient as the membrane pulls the plates toward each other to collapse the chamber.
